Salute to Jordan Rice in Song – Save Blake

Music by Barry David Butler – Lyrics by Roger Antony Carter
Performed by Barry D. Butler

Barry D Butler

Barry David Butler hails from Sebring, Florida, USA. He tells us he has been singing and writing songs for many years. Barry tells us “From the moment I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show many moons ago, I was off and running. I was always musical and able to make up melodies. I’ve always written the music and sang my own songs. As a matter of fact, I have never heard another person sing one of my songs and I’ve written over 500. I played in bands in the 1970’s and 1980’s and that was my major source of income.” In the past ten years, Barry has teamed up with lyricist Roger Antony Carter who resides in the United Kingdom. Roger wrote the words to ‘Save Blake” and is continuing to collaborate with Barry on an increasing total of songs.

Barry and Roger request anyone who appreciates or finds inspiration in their song to please donate to the Toowoomba Disaster Appeal or Grantham Flood Support.

Mystery Person in Toowoomba Flood Photo Safe

The photo  below was received by a local police officer from a member of the public overlooking the floods from the Grand Central Shopping Centre, looking on to Dent Street, Toowoomba on Monday, 10th January.

Fears were held for the safety of the person in the water but police would now like to advise the media and members of the public that the person was found safe and well. After extensive enquiries police have ascertained the teenage girl was rescued by a member of the public further downstream, and has requested she remain anonymous.

Eighteen people have died in the flash floods that swept through Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley, mostly in or near  Grantham. Floodwaters near Ipswich have claimed the lives of a man and a four-year-old boy.

Grave fears are held by police for another missing 12 people, believed to be from two families in the Lockyer Valley.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Toowoomba Police as soon as possible on 46 316 333 or Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Crime Stoppers is a charitable community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.

Help Grantham, Withcott & Murphy’s Creek People Find Possessions

0

Facebook pages were turning up saying they had found photo albums and so forth and they would like to give it back to the rightful owners.

Many possessions were swept from homes by flood waters and are now being found scattered over the countryside as waters recede

This site will help people communicate and be easy for people to locate. You may put in photos, descriptions and information on the area it was found.

Local members of the community will be helping as well to see if we can get precious items home.

A lot of people down here in the Lockyer Valley have nothing left. And the things they miss the most is their favourite stubby cooler, or their wedding photos. It doesn’t matter how small or big, list the item.

This site is designed for everyone to share and communicate. The only problem with this site is people need to know it is there for it to work (it’s worth a try).

Queenslanders Asked To Remember Flood Victims

Queenslanders are being asked to observe a minute’s silence at 2.33pm today (Monday, 17th January) exactly one week on from the devastating flash flooding that brought death and destruction to Toowoomba and the nearby Lockyer Valley area.

Scott Bucholz, the Federal MP for Wright whose electorate covers the Valley says “Wherever you are, please stop for a minute and remember those innocent people who lost their lives simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

The death toll stands at 18, mostly from LockyerValley communities. Police say grave fears are held for 14 others who remain missing from the Toowoomba/Lockyer Valley area.
