Also speaking on the night will be Associate Professor Craig Allingham, an expert in Men’s health and author of several books including ‘Prostate Recovery †Men’s Action Plan.’ Craig will explain how taking control of your own health is not a sign of weakness, but of great strength and responsibility. He has a sensible approach to making simple and achievable changes towards better health. Please help us to get the word out to encourage all men to RSVP and come along! (Women also welcome to attend, of course).

You may have heard that some channels in areas of the Darling Downs will soon be changing frequencies.
These moves are part of a national retune programme that will free up broadcasting spectrum for new services such as mobile broadband. The date of the retune for each area depends on which tower viewers receive their signal from.
Key dates:
Crows Nest viewers will need to retune their TV on 30 July after 3:30pm
Miles viewers will need to retune their TV on 4 August after 3:30pm
Tara viewers will need to retune their TV on 5 August after 3:30pm
Toowoomba and surrounds viewers will need to retune their TV from 12 August after 3:30pm.
Retuning is done using the remote. For most systems press the ‘menu’ button on the remote. Look for settings such as ‘channels’ or ‘auto-tuning’ and follow the prompts to retune. A video and 3-step guide to retuning is available on the website. The retune is scheduled to avoid evenings and weekends. There may be some temporary disruption to all TV services on retune day.
Service outages on the days before and after the retune may also be necessary, due to work being conducted at the transmission site.
As the retune simply moves free-to-air TV channels to a new location on the broadcast spectrum, it is unlikely to change TV reception or coverage.
For more information about the retune, scheduled outages, or to sign up for an SMS or email reminder, visit the retune website, or call the Digital Ready Information Line on 1800 20 10 13, 8am to 10pm (AEST), 7 days.
It’s always a fun night for all who attend & the band Joy Times donates their time & talents to charity too which is so very generous of Chris & Darryl. Darryl travels from Brown’s Plains to play saxophone and Chris from Toowoomba is a fantastic keyboard player. Their music is very enjoyable and it’s great just to listen to and
enjoy during the evening.
FREE ladies Golf Introduction sessions will be delivered by Golf Queensland in conjunction with City Golf Club and Toowoomba Golf Club, Middle Ridge. They are open for any ladies to attend, with benefits accruing for our regional courses by encouraging more women to give golf a go. In fact, the country courses we have in our region provide a great opportunity for beginners to get into the sport. Any enquiries regarding the sessions can be directed to Virginia Irwin at Golf Queensland by emailing Virginia@golfqueensland.org.au or calling 07 3252 8155.

Ergon Energy Retail will comply with legislation passed by the Australian Senate on 17 July 2014 to repeal the carbon price . The electricity tariffs available through Ergon Energy Retail are set by the Queensland Competition Authority (QCA), and have included the Australian Government’s carbon price since it was introduced in July 2012.
In preparation for the removal of the tax this year, the QCA prepared a set of prices for retail tariffs without the carbon price at the time of updating prices for 2014-15. Once Ergon Energy Retail has received formal notification of new tariff prices from the Queensland Government, we’ll begin work to switch over to new regulated retail tariffs that do not include the carbon price effective 1 July 2014.
Customers with bills already issued after 1 July 2014 and before the new tariffs are introduced will receive an adjustment on their next bill.
Ergon Energy Retail is committed to passing on reduced electricity prices to customers from the repeal of the carbon price as quickly and cost effectively as possible.
