Xenophon Announces Queensland Candidates

Senator for South Australia, Nick Xenophon, has today on the first anniversary of the Nick Xenophon Team launch, announced his Queensland candidates for the 2016 Federal election.

The Queensland candidate line-up includes two Senate candidates and two House of Representatives candidates – all with strong community backgrounds.

“The Queensland team will give the major parties a run for their money. They are all passionate advocates for their state, and are all about politics being done differently. It’s not about left or right ideologies, it’s about finding the best solutions for the nation.” said Nick

“The three key platforms of Predatory Gambling, Australian Made and Government & Corporate Accountability are issues that strike a cord with millions of Australians who feel that the major parties are out of touch.”

Senate – Suzanne Grant

Suzanne currently teaches politics at the University of Queensland. Her career spans working for the global consulting firm Deloitte, through to running her own specialist consulting and recruitment business. Suzanne has a deep interest in politics centered on fairness, equal opportunity and accountability.

Senate – Daniel Crow

Daniel is a communications officer with the Australian Taxation Office. He has a special interest in advocating for policy to position Australia as a world leader in technology, defence and high end manufacturing.

Groom – Josie Townsend

Josie currently runs a Queensland-based marketing and business agency that focus on farming, food, health and start-up businesses. Josie believes the local community are ready for change and her passion is just what the electorate of Groom needs.

Moreton – Des Soares

Des is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a practice in Brisbane. His passions are education, opportunity, equality and fairness. Des wants to help the people of Moreton to rediscover their voice and be heard on the issues that matter the most.
