Toowoomba’s Redwood Park Open Day Saturday, 3rd March 2012

Enjoy Toowoomba’s own endangered dry rainforest, less than 5km from city hall. Discover some of the important and endangered plants and animals that live in this rain forest.

Join one or more of the guided walks around and through the forest:

7 am Bird Walk Toowoomba Bird Observers
8.30 Exhibits commence.
Presentations by Toowoomba Bird Observers, Toowoomba Field Naturalist, FEP and other groups.
9.00 Plants of the dry rainforest – join Dr Bill Macdonald, the chief botanist from the Queensland Herbarium on a walk through the rainforest.
10.30 Butterfly walk– Dr Don Sands – retired CSIRO scientist, world renowned entomologist and ecologist.
Midday- Barbecue
1.30 pm Close

View the presentations of some of Toowoomba’s environmental groups. Find a group that may suit your interests. Support the work of Friends of the Escarpment Park – become a member or join or park care group. Make suggestions for the recovery of this endangered eco- system. Many Local Environmental Groups will be represented.

Location: Redwood Park picnic area (Off the Down section of the Range Highway to Brisbane. Turn left just past the 100 k/h sign on the last down section of the range highway.
