The Lions Club of Toowoomba West will once again stage Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland of Lights throughout the month of December.
Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland has now grown to be one of Queensland’s biggest light extravaganzas with over 50,000 people visiting the lights display last year and over 150,000 since 2008. In all, close to $200,000 has been raised for local charity and the Lions Club of Toowoomba West is keen to keep the established tradition going. A project team has been established, comprising Lions club members and representatives of community based, non-profit organisations, to plan this year’s event. The major beneficiaries this year include: Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, Lifeline and Toowoomba Hospice, with a number of other local charities to benefit.
The Toowoomba Regional Council is very supportive and has expanded the area for the lights to be displayed in the Botanical Gardens, Queens Park for this year’s event. This site is perfect, being close to the CBD, with adequate parking and an ambiance that is ideally suited for holding a Christmas lights wonderland. Already many sponsors have committed to the event and the stage is set for a joyous period leading into Christmas.
There will be a host of new displays, with lights to music, a laser lights display and much more. There’s entertainment every night, glow products, free ice creams for the kids, complimentary tea and coffee.
Entry is by way of a gold coin donation.
