Multiple Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews will remain on scene over night monitoring fire edges at several large fires burning safely within containment lines in the Ravensbourne, Perseverance and Cressbrook area. This fire, which was sparked as a result of lightning strikes in the area, has been burning since Saturday, 20th October. The fire is causing a large amount of smoke which due to winds, is affecting parts of Toowoomba. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed and if they are susceptible to respiratory illnesses, keep their medication close by.
Regular updated information will be provided on the QFRS Rural Operations website at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au or at www.fire.qld.gov.au or by listening to your local radio station.
