Parisian Theme a Feature of ‘A Christmas Wish”

The Empire Theatre will be the venue for the Toowoomba School of Dance (TSD) 12th annual production of the much-loved dance spectacular ‘A Christmas Wish‘. Adding a touch of Europe, Parisian style, will be a feature of this year’s special event on Saturday 24th November.

In the first half of the program, ballet students will present ‘La Vie Parisienne’. Come join the excitement and festivities of the final day of the Tour de France and experience the bustling streets of the Parisian lifestyle. With the beautiful scenery and captivating dancing on the magnificent stage of the Empire Theatre, the audience will be enticed into a vibrant café scene along with its Artists, Models, Puppets, Buskers and Circus Performers, ending with a bang of Fireworks.

‘Tiki Jungle’, is the title of the second half of the production, featuring colourful costumes and lively dance routines that will entertain young and old with its program of Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Song and Dance, Irish and Contemporary dance. The dynamic change of pace in the second half of the program will captivate guests with characters such as Funky Monkeys, Bumble Bees, Lava and Tiki Dancers. The special guest artist for ‘A Christmas Wish 2012′ will be Toowoomba’s ever-popular Ruby Slipperz.

The 2012 annual event has come to fruition once again thanks to the ongoing generosity of the Toowoomba Regional Council, Kendall, Fitzy’s on Church, Clive Berghofer Land Sales, as well as a number of other locally owned businesses.

There will be two performances of ‘A Christmas Wish’ this year on Saturday 24th November – a 1.30pm matinee and a 6.30pm evening show. Tickets are on sale now at the Empire Theatre box office for $20 single and $60 for a family of four.

‘A Christmas Wish’, has prided itself as also being a major fundraising event for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation’s Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal and has raised over $130,000 during its run of 12 years at the Empire Theatre.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Peter Rookas thanked Dale Coles and the TSD team for their ongoing commitment to the Foundation. We are extremely grateful for the annual commitment that the children from TSD put in to making this event such a huge success.” He said the funds raised by the children of Toowoomba School of Dance at their annual concert, goes towards purchasing major pieces of equipment for children’s health.
