Toowoomba Regional Council has extended a warm spring welcome to a delegation from Korean Sister City Paju, as part of sharing the joy of Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers. Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said Council the party was headed by Paju Deputy Mayor Mr Tae-soo Park.
Cr Antonio said the whirlwind Australian visit by the group primarily was to experience Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers celebrations. “After an initial stop in Brisbane, the touring party was welcomed at a Mayoral reception on the Friday afternoon,” Cr Antonio said. “Following a welcome dinner on the opening night of Carnival, our guests enjoyed a morning tour of prize winning and competition gardens.”
Our international guests were invited to the Mayoral Garden Party before viewing the Grand Central Floral Parade. “The visitors place a great deal of importance on maintaining links with their Sister City representatives and Council was keen to ensure we treated our guests to an enjoyable stay.
“Only last month we hosted a junior soccer exchange with our Japanese Sister City, Takatsuki, Cr Antonio said. “Staying in touch with our respective Sister City partners and having wider community interaction is the best way to advance friendly relations between our countries and respective cities.”
The Paju delegation also included Manager of Transportation Policy Division Mr Soon-tae Kim, Team Leader of Integral Care Team, Resident Livelihood Division Mr Dong-jun Seo, Team Leader of International Exchanges & Cooperation Team, General Affairs Division Ms Soon-Yeon Hwang and International Exchanges & Cooperation Team, General Affairs Division Ms Moon-young Jang.
