Money, Money, Money!

Toowoomba Detectives are advising local business operators to be aware of a recent spate of counterfeit $50 and $100 notes being presented for payment of goods. In most instances business operators are only becoming aware of their acceptance of these counterfeit notes when the banking is being prepared.

Investigators encourage business operators to be vigilant and if in doubt record vehicle registration numbers and personal particulars of suspect persons who may be attempting to pass these counterfeit notes. Such details and CCTV footage prove invaluable when identifying and prosecuting offenders.

The perpetrators of these crimes may target businesses during high customer flow or busy periods, when a console operator’s attention may be easily distracted.

Detectives at Dalby and Ipswich have recently arrested a number of persons for like offences but investigators believe the counterfeit notes continue to circulate within our community.
