Model Rocket Launch on Saturday 17th March, 2012

Why not escape the ‘bombardment’ of electoral issues and treat yourself to a few hours of fun at the our first Model Rocket Launch of 2012, joining the boys, their families and leaders of our unique Space Pilots’ Club this Saturday 17th March at the T.A.R.M.A.C. field on the New England Highway, just a 10-minute drive south of Toowoomba.

Heading south out of Toowoomba you’ll find the T.A.R.M.A.C. field on your right just past The Mill – The Outlook” (after first having driven through Hodgsonvale)…Look for the windsock at the model-aircraft landing strip …. and drive in and park near the sheltered area. Do bring a folding chair though.

It is quite different” to see these beautifully made model-rocket craft soar skyward after a countdown 5…4….3….2…1…”ignition” ! Then to see the rockets ‘waft’ downward below a parachute usually. Rockets can reach a height around the 1000 feet mark!

There are refreshments available, and there are toilet facilities on site too.  It all starts shortly after 1:30 pm and is usually over by 3:30pm. Best of all …entry is free.

Come along – give yourself a deserved break.
