Local Young Talent to Launch Toowoomba Hospital Kids Appeal Saturday 22nd October

Some of the region’s most talented young singers & dancers will join together in a Family Fun Day on Saturday 22nd October in Toowoomba to officially launch the 2011 Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal at Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre.

The Toowoomba School of Dance (TSD) will join talented singer/song-writer Josh Arnold & local primary school children in a morning that will feature dancing, singing, face painters, balloon artists and much more for lots of fun for families and their children. The TSD will perform a sneak preview of their major dance spectacular ‘A Christmas Wish’ which is scheduled for the 26th November. Josh Arnold has been working with young primary school children in the region and produced a CD with the Newtown State School kids and is in the midst of another CD with kids from other state schools. Cleo the Clown & Sparkles the Clown will also provide free face painting & balloon artistry.

Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Peter Rookas said the local young talent adds a special touch to launch this year’s appeal. We have so many talented young people, so why not showcase them on a special day that launches one of the most recognised charity fund raising events in our region. We hope families flock to Clifford Gardens for a great family fun day.”

Mr Rookas said this year’s appeal is targeting $60,000 for much needed vital equipment for Children’s Health. Following careful consideration, we have identified needs within the Special Care Nursery & Children’s Ward at Toowoomba Hospital. Our ongoing success with previous appeals gives us great optimism that we can achieve our goal this year.”

The Appeal will run from the 22nd October to 27th November with a number of major events including the wonderful production of A Christmas Wish” at the Empire Theatre, the USQ Works Biggest Loser, the USQ Student Guild Ride, Run, Walk and a The Chronicle Tropical Shirt Friday. There’ll also be a special family movie screening at Birch Carroll & Coyle Cinemas.
