Dancing in the streets to farewell Carnival

Dancing in the streets, hot rods and the chance to dunk a celebrity will all be part of StreetFest, the last event on this year’s Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers calendar.

Beehives and bobby socks will abound when Margaret and Duggan Streets step back in time to the 1950s and ’60s.

Apple bobbing competitions and free rides in vintage cars are just some of the attractions organised for the event which will run between 10am and 6pm on Sunday, September 26.

Live bands will rock two stages on Margaret Street, including the Jim Miller Big Band, the Song Dogz, The Countdowns and Fossils of Rock.

Then celebrate the finale of the 2010 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers by directing your eyes to the skies as the Garden City lights up in the Fireworks Finale from 6pm in  Queens Park (followed by Pictures in the Park, showing North by North West with Cary Grant).

StreetFest road closures

Closed roads within the Toowoomba City area for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers StreetFest event between 5am and 7pm on Sunday, September 26, 2010, as follows: Margaret St (Style St) between Ruthven and Victoria sts, Duggan St from Margaret St to the entrance to Gardentown Shopping Centre, Mark Lane and Lamb St.
