Birdsville Races Planned To Go Ahead With Super Sunday Program

The Birdsville Races will be going ahead with a Super Sunday race program this Sunday 4th September. Commencing at 11am and finishing at 4.30am, the condensed Sunday program will combine highlight races originally scheduled for the Friday and Saturday race days. The prestigious Birdsville Cup will run at 1.15pm.

The decision follows 55mm of rainfall in Birdsville during the week †more than three times the yearly average. The local council are currently using machinery on the course to drain water and ensure that the track is safe for racing.

There will be a phantom race program Saturday 3rd September from 10am, with entertainment, bar and food facilities all on course.

All roads to and from Birdsville are currently closed, and commuters are encouraged to check with road and traffic authorities for ongoing updates.
